Pre-Treatment Guidelines
Important Information to Consider Before Booking an Appointment
Please read the following carefully before booking your appointment to ensure a safe and successful treatment experience:
Cold Sores
-
If you have a history of cold sores, you must start taking anti-viral medication (e.g., Zovirax or Aciclovir) 3 days before your lip filler appointment and continue for 3 days after the procedure. This helps prevent a cold sore flare-up following treatment.
Minimizing the Risk of Bruising and Swelling
To minimize the risk of bruising and swelling, please follow these guidelines:
-
Avoid Alcohol: Refrain from alcohol consumption for 24 hours before treatment, on the day of treatment, and for 24 hours afterwards.
-
Avoid Blood Thinners & Anti-Inflammatories: Do not take medications like Aspirin, Ibuprofen, or Naproxen for 3-5 days before your treatment, and for at least 24 hours after, unless these are medically prescribed.
-
Avoid Certain Supplements: Refrain from taking St. John’s Wort, Vitamin E, or products containing Gingko extracts (e.g., fish oil and garlic supplements) for 3 days before your appointment, unless medically necessary.
-
If you are prone to bruising, consider taking arnica orally for 7 days before and 7 days after treatment to reduce the likelihood of bruising.
Pre-Treatment Considerations
-
Lip Tattooing or Lip Blush: Wait at least 4-6 weeks after undergoing lip tattooing or lip blush procedures before having lip filler treatment.
-
Hair Removal: Avoid waxing, tweezing, bleaching, or using hair removal products for 3 days before treatment and for 7-10 days after treatment.
-
Facials and Beauty Treatments: Do not schedule facials or other beauty treatments for at least 7-10 days following your filler appointment.
-
Topical Skincare Products: Avoid using topical retinol, retin-A, retinoids, or glycolic acid products for 3 days before and 3 days after your treatment.
-
Sun Exposure and Tanning: Refrain from using sunbeds or tanning for 7 days before and 7 days after treatment to protect your skin.
Important Guidelines
-
Migrated Filler or Lumps: I am unable to carry out lip filler treatment on anyone with migrated filler or lumps above or behind the lips. If you are unsure, please schedule a consultation before booking a treatment.
-
Special Occasions: If you have an upcoming special event (e.g., wedding, birthday, or christening), it is advisable to schedule injectable treatments at least 2 weeks prior to allow sufficient healing time.
-
Travel Considerations: If you are planning to travel, either abroad or within the UK, please book your dermal filler appointment at least 10 days prior to your departure date.
-
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Treatments cannot be carried out on clients who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
-
Disabilities or Additional Needs: If you have any disabilities or additional needs, please inform me prior to booking your appointment. This allows me to make reasonable adjustments to ensure a comfortable and safe treatment experience.
COVID-19 Vaccine/Booster
-
Dermal filler treatments cannot be performed within 2 weeks before receiving a COVID-19 vaccine or booster, and for 3 weeks after receiving the vaccine.
If you do not adhere to the specified time frames and instructions above, I may be unable to proceed with your treatment, which will result in the loss of your booking fee. A further fee will be required to rebook your appointment.
Clinic Policies and Considerations
Childcare Policy
While I understand the challenges associated with childcare, I kindly request that you do not bring children to your appointment to maintain a safe and professional environment. While my insurance covers public safety and liability in the workplace, it does not provide coverage for children in the event of an accident.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in following these guidelines. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free
to reach out before booking your appointment.
