Profhilo is a unique skin remodelling treatment that works by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin through the slow release of Hyaluronic Acid.

Unlike other anti-ageing injectables that use fillers to add volume and stretch out the skin, Profhilo uses hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body to hydrate, firm and actually rebuild new, younger-looking skin cells.

As you age your body starts to produce less collagen and elastin – the cells that give your skin its structure and firmness. When these cells start to reduce, your skin can no longer hold its appearance and the first signs of ageing, such as fine lines and wrinkles, start to appear.

The Profhilo is injected just below the skin’s surface in only 2 sessions over a period of 4 weeks. It disperses quickly to boost and instantly hydrate your skin, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and resulting in improved skin texture.

Profhilo is the first BDDE-free stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) based product for treating skin laxity. With one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market (64mg / 2ml) it is not only amazing at boosting and hydrating the skin but it is also one of the most effective products out there for remodelling the ageing and sagging tissue.

Profhilo has been voted the best treatment of 2019 by The Times, and is incredibly safe, due to the formulation of hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally, and the levels of HA in the body are balanced by an enzyme known as hyaluronidase, which breaks down the hyaluronic acid molecules.

This is also the substance that breaks down Profhilo fillers over time, making it the least disruptive form of filler as the body is already equipped to work with the main ingredients.

HA is also the substance we use in our dermal fillers, as they are biodegradable, malleable and the safest form of dermal filler on the market.
Before your treatment, you should avoid blood thinners like Aspirin and other anti-inflammatories like Ibuprofen or Naproxen, high strength fish oils and vitamin C and E for at least a day beforehand, as they can increase the appearance of bruising after the treatment.
During your treatment, we can apply a numbing cream to make sure the procedure is comfortable for you. We will mark the areas to be treated and then inject the Profhilo filler using a tiny needle. This can cause some mild discomfort, but most people find it easily tolerable, especially when numbing cream is used.

The entire treatment process usually takes under 30 minutes and has no required recovery time, so you can get back to your day straight after treatment.
After treatment, you may experience mild swelling or bruising, although this usually goes down within a few days, leaving you with a plump, youthful appearance.

You should try and avoid touching the area & or taking part in any intense exercise for 24 hours after treatment to make sure you don’t disturb or displace the Profhilo filler.

The amount of time the filler takes to break down varies from person to person depending on the volume, type and location of filler injected, as well as the natural levels of hyaluronidase in the body. Generally, Profhilo fillers will last for around 6 months.
Profhilo® works in a course of 2 or 3 treatments, 4 weeks apart. On the face, only 5 injection points are necessary on each side of the face to give maximum results.

Profhilo® acts as a hydrator rather than a filler. It is injected just under the surface of the skin, where it disperses quickly (due to the lack of BDDE cross-linking agent) and reacts with your own tissues to instantly boost hydration. Over the following 4 weeks, phase 2 will boost collagen and elastin production within the dermis. This helps to give the skin a youthful, plump, smooth and firm appearance.

Profhilo® can be used as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with other dermal fillers, laser treatments or Botox as part of a holistic approach to skin remodelling and revitalisation.

What is Profhilo like to have done? As Profhilo is injected just under the skin using very fine needles in pre-determined points, it is relatively painless; you may feel a short sting or scratch, but this is short-lived. Patients can opt for topical pain relief or anaesthetic before a Profhilo® treatment, but it is usually not needed.

The procedure is very quick, taking only about 10 minutes.
There is no downtime with Profhilo®. However, it’s advisable to avoid alcohol, aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication in the 24 hours prior to the treatment. Vitamin C and Vitamin E can also increase the likelihood of bruising, but it is fine to use 48 hours after.

Immediately afterwards, it’s important to avoid wearing make-up and strenuous exercise such as going to the gym, swimming or extreme sports and hot steam rooms and saunas for at least 24 hours.
You will need to avoid excessive sunlight for 48 hours after Profhilo® and wear a high SPF sunscreen.

It’s important to know that if you expose your skin to the sun, this will only have a detrimental effect on your skin quality and hydration. Investing in good habits such as wearing SPF and a wide-brimmed hat when going into extreme sunlight, as well as having regular treatments such as Profhilo® will help your skin hugely, in the long-run.
There are no long-term side-effects with Profhilo® as it is metabolised by the body completely. The risk of any allergic reaction is substantially reduced due to the lack of any synthetic chemicals such as BDDE.

Some people can experience some redness, slight bruising, tenderness and possible itching at the injection sites, but these will subside in a few hours to a day and is totally natural.
Results from Profhilo® can last anything from 6 to 12 months, depending on your individual reaction and metabolism of the products.
